This position provides proactive leadership, guidance, and partnership to SUNY Cortland administration, faculty, and staff.
The Employee Relations Specialist will contribute to a high functioning, strategic and collaborative human resources team that provides leadership and guidance to the campus community.
The Human Resources Office is an energetic and motivated office of 14 personnel.
It is an exciting time of growth with the addition of two new professional positions in the office.
EXPECTED HIRING SALARY RANGE:
$68,000-$80,000- Starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Qualifications:
Employee Relations Specialist Position:
Bachelor's degree; minimum of three (3) years experience working in human resources; and demonstrated knowledge of human resource related laws.
Senior Employee Relations Specialist Position:
Bachelor's degree; minimum of three (3) years experience working in human resources; minimum of five (5) years experience working in employee and/or labor relations; and demonstrated knowledge of human resource related laws.
Preferred
Qualifications:
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Human Resources, Business, Labor Relations, or a closely related field; experience working in higher education; and experience working in unionized environment.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Demonstratedattention to detail; excellent independent judgment; demonstrated ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality; demonstrated ability to develop collegial working relationships with individuals at all organizational levels; ability to work independently and as part of a team; effective problem solving skills; excellent critical thinking skills; and, demonstrated ability to be creative, flexible, self-motivated, and customer service oriented.
